Coconut Oil is what’s HOT!

If you do not have a jar of this in your cabinet, I suggest you run out today and get one!  The coconut craze started with the ever so popular coconut water and now it seems that Coconut Oil is everywhere.

I love using natural ingredients whenever I can. They are not filled with hidden chemicals that do more harm than good. This product is 100% pure with no added preservatives.  Here are my favorite uses.

~Moisturizing Body Scrub/Exfoliate ~ My favorite body scrub, I always have a fresh batch in my shower and I use it everyday.  Mix 1 tbsp. Coconut Oil and 2 tbsp. Raw Honey until smooth.

Add 1/4 cup Coarse Sea Salt, 1/4 cup Organic Rough Sugar, and 1 tbsp. Lemon Juice.  Blend well and store in small container in your shower.  Good for weeks when stored in an air tight container.

~Moisturizer ~ Keep your skin smooth and moisturized with coconut oil.  It is a great treatment for various skin problems such as eczema and psoriasis.  Coconut oil contains medium chain fatty-acids, which not only moisturizes, but is a good barrier against bacteria for your skin. Especially good on elbows and heals.

~ Great conditioner treatment on your wooden cutting boards

~ Shaving Cream replacement

~Make-up Remover

~Leather Moisturizer

~Insect Repellent ~ Combine with Lemon Balm or Peppermint Oil.

~Soothing Agent ~ Will help skin irritations such as chicken pox, shingles and other skin rashes.

~Energy Shot ~ Just a spoonful will give you a burst of energy.  (shhh…it’s one of my secrets).

~Acne/pimple remedy ~ Because of its bacteria fighting agents it works!

~Plant Grooming~ Use a small amount on cloth and gently wipe your plant’s leaves. Your plants will shine!

~Baking Oil ~ Throw out all of that vegetable oil that is used for baking, and use coconut oil instead.

~Non-Stick ~ Moisten Shish Kabob skewers and the meat and veggies will slide off after grilling.

~Egg Preserver ~ Coat surface of egg shell with a thin coat of coconut oil, then store in cool place.  This process will form a seal keeping oxygen out of the egg.  When using this process, eggs are edible for 9-12 months!  Great idea if your eggs spoil before getting a chance to use them all.

~Lubricant ~ Okay…I know what your thinking, well yes that too. (Not good with laytex;))…But, it is a great lubricant for your kitchen scissors.

And there are numerous suggested medical treatments for the oil, but I will let you Google those on your own.  I hope you give some of these remedies a shot! And if you do, I want to hear about them.
